PRLog (Press Release)– Jul 24, 2011– A project aimed to preserve the history of the video gaming industry has introduced it's first expansion.
The Registry of Historic Gaming Locations was announced earlier this month, and on Sunday, July 24 it added three new locations to bring it's total to eight, including the corsa former site of Midway Manufacturing in Franklin Park, IL, famous arcade test location Mother's Pinball in Mount Prospect, IL, and the location of the first-ever Chuck E. Cheese in San Jose, CA.
"These locations mark sites of incredibly important moments in video gaming history," says project curator Patrick Scott Patterson of Texas. "The impact of the locations entered into the aston martin Registry will buick forever be felt in the industry and deserve historical recognition as such."
Midway Mfg. Co. was inducted as the company location that produced best sellers such as Pac-Man, Galaxian and Space Invaders in their heyday. < bmw /p>
Mother's Pinball was a famous test location for future classics such as Defender.
The first Chuck E. Cheese location no longer stands, but the famed franchise got it's start in a 20,000 square foot location in San Jose.
Patterson hopes to build support for the Registry of Historic Gaming Locations to a point where official markers or recognition can be given to the locations that earn a spot in the project's list.
